ELLIE McDOODLE: Have Pen, Will Travel
Bloomsbury 2007

Written & Illustrated by Ruth McNally Barshaw

------------------------------------------

ELLIE McDOODLE Sells to Bloomsbury!

ELLIE McDOODLE is a kid who has relatives she can't stand,
and she keeps a diary of her adventures.
The book is by turns funny, informative and touching,
says my agent's announcement.
(which I printed 5 times, framed and cherish)
(And I cherish my agent, as well. She's brilliant)
(I have no intention of framing her.)

Look for ELLIE McDOODLE in stores nationwide in May, 2007.
Delayed gratification is the name of the game in publishing,
unless you're writing something urgent and timely.
I prefer to think of my books as timeless.  :)

This one's a highly illustrated middle grade novel
which means it has a lot of pictures and
is aimed at kids 8-12 years old,
though I think it's entertaining for all ages.

The book has an interesting history already,
best told in sketchbook form,
so watch for updates here later in 2006.

And if you are one of the hundreds of people who
encouraged me last Feb-March to try my hand at
a book in my trademark sketchy style,
T H A N K  Y O U !!!

Very much.
I couldn't be happier.

This is my first attempt at a novel
and my first real published book,
and I have lots more ideas up my sleeve.
